Privacy Policy

Backo has no accounts, no servers and no analytics of our own. It is a client for an Umbraco installation that you already run. Everything you do in the app happens between your device and your own server. We never receive your content, your credentials, or any record that you used the app.

Under the GDPR we are not a controller or a processor of the content you edit through the app. That content lives on the Umbraco installation you connect to, and whoever operates that installation is its controller.
What the app stores on your device

All of it stays on the device. None of it is copied to us or to any third party. Deleting the app removes the cache and preferences, and the keychain items go with it.
The cache is a convenience, not a queue. Edits are sent straight to your server or they fail — nothing you change is held on the device waiting to be synchronised.
What leaves your device, and where it goes
The app talks to exactly two kinds of destination, both of which you choose:
The Umbraco server you add. Every request — signing in, reading the content tree, saving a page, uploading media — goes to the address you entered, over HTTPS, using Umbraco's standard Management API. Your credentials go to that server so it can authenticate you.
Your identity provider, if you use external sign-in (SSO). When your Umbraco is configured for an external login, the app opens that provider's own login page so you can sign in there. The app watches only for the callback that ends the login.
There is no third destination. The app contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no telemetry of ours. It does not use the advertising identifier, and it does not track you across apps or websites.
Apple Intelligence
This version of the app ships with its on-device writing features switched off. No text, page content or media is sent to any AI service by this app — not ours, not anyone else's. If those features are enabled in a future version they will run on Apple's on-device model, and this policy will be updated to say so before that version ships.
What Apple sees
If you download the app from the App Store, Apple records that purchase or download under its own privacy policy, and Apple may share aggregated, anonymised statistics with us: how many downloads, in which countries, and anonymised crash logs if you have opted into sharing diagnostics with developers. We cannot identify you from any of it.
Children
The app is a professional tool for editing websites and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone, of any age.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to give you, correct, or erase. Requests concerning the content stored in your Umbraco installation should go to whoever operates that installation. The data the app keeps on your device is in the app's own container and goes away when you delete the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will also be mentioned in the release notes of the version they apply to.
